How Big Is a Pickleball Court? What You Need to Know to Play

Pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports in the world, combining elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong into one exciting and accessible game. Whether you're a beginner or looking to set up your own court, a common question arises: How big is a pickleball court?

Standard Court Dimensions

An official pickleball court is 20 feet wide by 44 feet long, which is the same size whether you're playing singles or doubles. This makes it significantly smaller than a tennis court, allowing for faster games and quicker reflexes.

The net height is 36 inches at the sidelines and 34 inches in the middle. The court is divided into:

  • Two service areas (right and left)

  • A 7-foot non-volley zone on either side of the net, often referred to as "the kitchen"

Indoor vs. Outdoor Courts

Pickleball courts can be set up both indoors and outdoors. While the dimensions stay the same, outdoor courts often have textured surfaces for better grip and weather durability, while indoor courts tend to be smoother.

If you're converting an existing tennis or badminton court, temporary lines and portable nets can easily be used to match official pickleball dimensions.

Setting Up Your Own Pickleball Court

To set up your own court, you'll need at least 30 feet by 60 feet of total space for safe movement around the playing area. This gives players enough room to run, pivot, and return shots without stepping off the edge of the playing surface.

Whether you're building a home setup or marking temporary lines at a park, understanding the proper measurements ensures a fair and fun game.

Dress Right for the Court

If you're serious about playing—or just want to look sharp while having fun—investing in proper gear makes a difference. Lightweight, moisture-wicking men's pickleball outfits help you stay cool and agile, especially during intense rallies. Stretch-ready fabrics, breathable tops, and flexible shorts are essentials for moving freely across the court.

Elevate Your Game with Quality Sportswear

As pickleball continues to grow in popularity, so does the demand for comfortable, functional men's sportswear tailored for dynamic movement. From court-ready polos to supportive athletic shorts, the right apparel can enhance your confidence and performance—whether you're playing casually or competing in local leagues.
